Price vs. Quality

I was meeting with the owner of a fellow non-medical home care agency recently and we were talking about our business models. Our models couldn’t have been more different. His price is set at such a low rate that it barely covers my employee related expenses and doesn’t even cover all of my fixed costs. He explained he might be running on much thinner margins but preferred this business model because he could build up his billable hours much quicker than me. I couldn’t disagree with his statement but I sure do disagree with his philosophy. He also mentioned that because he bills so many hours that it doesn’t mean much if he loses a round the clock 24 hour a day client.
All of this talk really made me realize why I’m in the business I am in and why my business model is set the way it is. Without making this blog post too business related or in need of an MBA to understand, I’d like to make a few points about what Valley of the Sun Homecare is all about. Yes, we might not be the cheapest alternative in home care. No, we are not the most expensive either. Yes, we do care if we lose a client, even if it is someone who only gets care just one day a month for a few hours. No, we will never have to sacrifice our quality because of price. Yes, you get what you pay for.
When choosing home care for yourself or a loved one you need to take a lot into consideration. Price is important but the old adage, “you pay for what you get “ lives long and true. At Valley of the Sun Homecare you can rest assured that the whole process will be handled in a professional and first class manner. All caregivers go through a rigorous interview process which includes a 50 state criminal background check and motor vehicle background check. In addition, all employees must be First Aid and CPR certified. If they meet these minimum requirement then I, as the owner of the company, will only hire the caregiver if I feel comfortable enough to have them care for my own family if need be.

Once you begin service you will be matched with a well-qualified and compassionate caregiver. This will be the same caregiver on each visit. We don’t and won’t have rotating, random caregivers coming to your home each day of service. We feel it is very important for our caregiver to be able to get to know the clients wants and needs and develop a friendship. That can’t be done with random caregivers coming in and out of the home. Furthermore, on your first day of service the care coordinator will introduce the caregiver to you and your family to make for an easy transition. We know it can be very difficult and stressful to have someone come into your home so we try to make that transition as easy as possible.
These are just a few of the things we do before a client even hires us. If you or a loved one can benefit from a little extra help please call us at (480) 264-5252 or email info@ValleyOfTheSunHomecare.com and we’ll be happy to explain the rest of the process and how we can go above and beyond to make your experience as easy and stress free as possible.
